Grizzly Entertainment performed a custom drone light show for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa during the Suncoast Boat Show in Sarasota, Florida. The performance was created as a brand activation designed to attract the attention of boat show visitors and encourage them to continue their evening at the casino.
Presented above Sarasota’s waterfront, the drone show brought the Seminole Hard Rock brand directly to an audience attending one of the region’s established marine events. It gave the casino a large-scale visual presence outside its property while adding a memorable moment to the evening.
A Drone Show Designed as a Brand Activation
The main objective of the project was to connect Seminole Hard Rock with visitors attending the Sarasota Boat Show.
Instead of waiting for potential guests to encounter the brand through advertising at the casino, the activation placed Hard Rock directly in front of an audience already gathered for a major event. The drone light show became a visual invitation, introducing the casino and encouraging spectators to consider Hard Rock as their next destination.
This type of activation allows a brand to communicate beyond the physical boundaries of its venue. Casinos, resorts, hotels, and entertainment destinations can use drone shows at nearby festivals, exhibitions, sporting events, and community celebrations to reach new audiences in a relevant setting.
The Suncoast Boat Show, commonly referred to as the Sarasota Boat Show, takes place at Marina Jack in downtown Sarasota. Its waterfront location created a fitting environment for an aerial performance designed to be viewed from across the event area.
Bringing the Seminole Hard Rock Brand to the Sky
For the Sarasota project, the creative direction focused on presenting the Seminole Hard Rock identity through custom aerial visuals.
Drone shows can transform recognizable brand elements into formations displayed in the night sky. Logos, symbols, short messages, products, and themed animations can be adapted to suit the viewing distance, location, audience, and objectives of a campaign.
Every formation must remain clear and recognizable from the intended spectator area. This requires careful attention to scale, spacing, movement, color, and the transitions between visuals.
Grizzly Entertainment develops each project around the client’s campaign rather than applying a fixed format. The creative process considers the purpose of the activation, the audience, the event setting, the available airspace, and the message the brand wants to communicate.

Reaching Audiences Beyond the Casino
The Sarasota Boat Show activation demonstrates how a drone light show can support destination marketing.
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa was not the host location of the boat show, but the performance allowed the casino to become part of the event experience. The campaign reached visitors while they were already participating in an evening centered on leisure, hospitality, and entertainment.
This approach can support several marketing objectives:
- Introduce a destination to a regional audience
- Promote a casino, resort, hotel, or entertainment venue
- Connect a brand with a major public event
- Generate visual content for social media campaigns
- Support awareness across multiple cities or markets
- Encourage event visitors to continue their evening at another destination
The drone show provided Seminole Hard Rock with a public-facing activation that could be experienced at the event and shared through digital content afterward.

Part of an Ongoing Collaboration
The Sarasota Boat Show project formed part of an ongoing collaboration between Grizzly Entertainment and Seminole Hard Rock.
The partnership later continued with another drone light show during St. Pete Pride. Produced in collaboration with Seminole Hard Rock, the City of St. Petersburg, and St. Pete Pride, that performance connected the casino with a different audience and community event.
While the Sarasota project focused on attracting boat show visitors to the casino, the Seminole Hard Rock drone show at St. Pete Pride was developed around the identity and atmosphere of the Pride celebration.
Together, the two projects show how an ongoing drone show collaboration can adapt to different locations, audiences, and campaign goals while maintaining a recognizable connection to the brand.
Drone Shows for Casinos, Resorts, and Hospitality Brands
Drone light shows can help hospitality and entertainment brands create visibility at their own properties or at external events where their target audiences are already present.
A casino may use a drone show to promote a destination during a regional festival. A resort may incorporate one into a grand opening, anniversary, or guest experience. A hotel group may plan a series of activations across multiple properties or markets.
The final concept depends on the campaign. Drone count, duration, formations, music, viewing area, and production requirements are planned around the specific project and location.
Grizzly Entertainment creates custom drone shows for casinos, resorts, hospitality groups, agencies, corporate clients, and public events across the United States and Europe. Additional examples are available in the Grizzly Entertainment drone show portfolio.
