For the fourth year in a row, Grizzly Entertainment returned to Colorado Springs for the Labor Day Lift Off drone show program. During Labor Day weekend, our team performed five drone shows across three days at Memorial Park, adding synchronized aerial displays to one of Colorado Springs’ signature community events.
The 2026 Labor Day Lift Off took place from September 5 through September 7. Its program combined hot air balloon launches, balloon glows, live music, aerial demonstrations and family activities. Drone shows were presented at different points throughout the weekend, giving visitors several opportunities to experience the festival from a new perspective.
Returning to a Colorado Springs Labor Day Tradition
Labor Day Lift Off brings hot air balloons and public entertainment together at Memorial Park, with Prospect Lake and the surrounding mountain scenery shaping the setting. In 2026, the festival also recognized its 50th anniversary, alongside Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Grizzly Entertainment’s return marked the fourth consecutive year that our team delivered drone shows for the event. Our 2025 Labor Day Lift Off coverage documented how the performances had become part of the festival’s morning and evening schedule. The 2026 production continued that relationship with five separate shows during the three-day weekend.
Five Drone Shows Across Three Days
Delivering five performances within one event requires a production plan built around the full festival schedule. The team must prepare for each launch window while coordinating the operational area, equipment and crew across several consecutive sessions.
The Labor Day Lift Off format includes performances during both early-morning and nighttime conditions. Each setting creates a different viewing experience. Morning shows appear against the first light of the day as visitors gather for the balloon launch, while evening shows use the darker sky to give illuminated formations stronger color and contrast.
Producing repeated shows over one weekend also requires consistency. Every performance must be approached as its own live operation, with the team assessing the conditions and preparing the system before each flight. This structured approach allowed Grizzly Entertainment to complete five drone shows over the three days of the festival.
Drone Shows Alongside the Balloon Festival
The location gives the performances a distinctive visual setting. Hot air balloons, Prospect Lake and the open areas of Memorial Park frame the audience experience, while the drone show adds animated movement above the festival grounds.
Rather than functioning as a separate attraction, the aerial displays fit into the rhythm of the weekend. Morning performances connect with the anticipation surrounding the balloon lift off. Evening performances follow a program that includes balloon glows, concerts and other live activities.
The project shows how a multi-show drone program can support a large public festival across several sessions. It also demonstrates how organizers can use different showtimes to reach visitors attending separate parts of a multi-day event.
A Fourth Consecutive Year at Labor Day Lift Off
Returning to the same event for four consecutive years creates valuable continuity. The production team understands the site, the audience environment and the timing of the wider festival program. At the same time, each year remains a separate project shaped by the current schedule and operational conditions.
Labor Day Lift Off has become an important recurring project in Grizzly Entertainment’s drone light show portfolio. The existing Labor Day Lift Off project page also provides a look at the aerial experience created for the Colorado Springs festival.
The 2026 weekend added another five performances to that ongoing collaboration. From the first preparations through the final flight, the project called for sustained coordination across three busy festival days.
Planning a Multi-Show Drone Production
Multi-day festivals may require more than a single performance. Grizzly Entertainment plans each drone show program around the event location, audience, creative direction, schedule and operational requirements. The number and timing of shows can be developed to support the wider event rather than relying on a fixed format.
